Tranquillity reigns in Santo Tomás...
You get three beaches for the price of one at Santo Tomás. The first pair, Sant Tomás and Sant Adeodat (to use their Catalan names), are equipped with standard holiday offerings, while the third, Binigaus, is well worth walking along the rocky path to. It has more sand than the first two put together, and is also the starting point for a stroll inland to the impressive cave, Cova des Coloms.
Tranquillity reigns in Santo Tomás. After hours, there is little to do beyond the entertainment in hotels; most of the resorts restaurants are attached to tourist accommodation. That's not to say a stroll along the waterfront path doesn't make for a great way to pass an evening - because it is. There is an abundance of playgrounds, picnic benches and activities such as mini golf and tennis, and the more energetic can head east over the low coastline and spend a day on Son Bou beach, the far end is practically empty, even in August.
One place where it's never empty - or at least not at lunchtime - is the beach bar Es Bruc. It's been in business as long as anyone can remember and the place is invaded by locals at the weekend. As there are no reservations, you either have to get there very early or just wait for a table. Fortunately as British eating hours rarely match those of Spaniards, tourists usually get a seat first!
